Why a documentary style photo shoot?

Well firstly kids get bored and I mean really bored.  Now don’t get me wrong I am not saying studio shoots are boring however in my experience after 10 to 15 minutes in a room with white backgrounds and a stuffy studio, kids loose interest.  Secondly, I want kids to be kids, the more mischief the better.

At home, or out and about?

At home family photo-shoots are for the type of people who want real personalities to be captured in their own surroundings, to have fun during the shoots, to capture the emotional connection between the family, and to see the cheeky side of their kids, the grittier the better.

I am not saying kids are perfect during home shoots or family outdoor shoots, don’t get me wrong, they will still have tantrums and kick off, but we can take time out and let them be or even better photograph it  In their own home, the are much more relaxed and I can guarantee within 5 minutes of me being there they are grabbing me by the hand asking if they can show me their favorite dinosaur or the picture they have just painted.

What makes these shoot’s even better is, when they have had enough in the home we can then head outside for a walk, climb some tree’s or have a play on the swings.

Meet Lynda, Joe and Cass

I first met Lynda at our local Fit Hit club and after getting to know her as the weeks went on, we chatted and she invited me round to her home during the summer holidays to photograph her two boys Joe & Cass.

Coffee was the first thing on the agenda, before we played hide and seek and yes we actually did lose Joe at one point…….or so we thought.  I still to this day can’t figure out how he managed to hide for so long.
